[Event report] NCCJ x Ekornes Seminar – Exploring Norway’s Iconic Stressless Furniture!

The Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (NCCJ), in collaboration with our corporate member Ekornes K.K. and partner NJS, hosted a special seminar highlighting Norway’s iconic Stressless furniture and the craftsmanship behind it. This seminar marked the first of a new series designed to engage NCCJ’s corporate members through in-house events.

The event took place on Wednesday, 4 June 2025, at Ekornes office, 2 Chome-5-18 Kyobashi, Chuo City, Tokyo, bringing together professionals and enthusiasts to learn about Ekornes’ approach to premium furniture and design.

Kenji Oyama, President of Ekornes K.K., welcomed attendees and shared the story behind the company, its history, mission, and the development of the world-famous Stressless line of recliners and sofas. Participants gained insights into the company’s commitment to craftsmanship, comfort, and innovation, while exploring how Ekornes continues to shape Japan’s furniture industry.

The seminar concluded with a networking session at a nearby izakaya, allowing attendees to continue discussions, exchange ideas, and strengthen connections.

This event successfully combined learning, dialogue, and networking, offering participants a deeper understanding of one of Norway’s most iconic brands and its impact in Japan.

在日ノルウェー商工会議所(NCCJ)は、法人会員であるエコーネス株式会社およびパートナーであるNJSと共催で、ノルウェーを代表するStressless家具の魅力と職人技を紹介する特別セミナーを開催いたしました。本セミナーは、NCCJ法人会員向けに新たに開始する社内イベントシリーズの第一弾となります。

イベントは2025年6月4日(水)、エコーネス株式会社オフィス(東京都中央区京橋2-5-18)にて開催され、参加者はエコーネスの高級家具やデザインへの取り組みについて学びました。

エコーネス株式会社代表取締役の大山賢治氏が登壇し、会社の歴史、ミッション、そして世界的に有名なStresslessシリーズの開発背景をご紹介。参加者は、同社の職人技、快適性、革新性への取り組みを理解し、エコーネスが日本の家具業界に与える影響について知見を深めました。

セミナー後は近隣の居酒屋でネットワーキングセッションが行われ、参加者は対話や意見交換を通じて交流を深めました。

本イベントは、学び・対話・ネットワーキングが一体となった機会となり、ノルウェーを代表するブランドの魅力と日本での展開を参加者に伝える貴重な場となりました。
