Please describe the business of your company in Japan.
Our main client is Visit Norway. We perform marketing activities on behalf of Visit Norway to position Norway as preferred tourist destination for the Japanese traveler.
In addition to Visit Norway, we do ad hoc consulting work for Norwegian tourism-related companies. We perform market analyses, customized marketing activities, etc.
Looking at the next 3-5 years, please mention top three opportunities your company see when doing business in Japan?
1) Opportunity to detach Norway from other Nordic countries when Japanese travel
2) Opportunity to change the seasonality of when the Japanese travel to Norway
3) Introduce Norwegian end-user products to support the brand positioning of Norway in the Japanese market
Do you see any specific opportunities or challenges of your Norwegian connection to your business?
Norwegian tourism products can gain more inroads into the Japanese market, but accessibility and the willingness of the supplier(s) to adjust their product(s)/services(s) to fit the needs of the Japanese, while still maintaining its authentic Norwegian identity is a definite challenge.
