President & CEO: Rio Yamase

Founded in 2005, Rion Corporation is a Tokyo-based company established to promote the artistry and cultural mission of violinist and cultural advocate Rio Yamase, with a particular focus on introducing the Norwegian national folk instrument, the Hardanger fiddle (Hardingfele), to Japan and Asia.

Since its inception, the company has grown to become a multidisciplinary cultural and educational organization fostering Nordic-Japanese exchange through music, arts, education, and wellbeing programs.

Milestones and Achievements

・2009: Established the affiliated non-profit organization, the Japan Hardanger Club, to promote cultural exchange and social welfare inspired by Nordic models. The organization launched Asia’s first Hardanger Fiddle Scholarship Program, supporting next-generation musicians.

・2012: Founded Suwayama Music Academy (now Rion Music Academy) in Nakameguro, Tokyo, based on the philosophy of nurturing “a rich inner world through the arts.” It became Japan’s first music school to offer a Nordic Music Course featuring the Hardanger fiddle.

・2013: Launched the Scandinavian-inspired jewelry brand Lilla Rio, designed around the nature and culture of Norway’s Hardanger region and manufactured in Japan.

・2020: Started the YouTube channel “Hokuougaku by Rio Yamase” (translated: Nordic Studies with Rio Yamase), introducing Norwegian culture, education, and wellbeing philosophies to a Japanese audience through digital media.

株式会社リオンコーポレーションは、2005年にノルウェーの民族楽器「ハルダンゲルヴァイオリン（Hardingfele）」の日本における紹介と、ヴァイオリニスト・文化人である山瀬理桜のプロモーションを目的として設立されました。以来、北欧と日本の文化・芸術・教育・福祉を結ぶ多角的な事業を展開しています。

主な沿革と実績：・2009年：北欧文化の普及と福祉分野での国際連携を目的に、関係団体「一般社団法人日本ハルダンゲルクラブ」を設立。アジア初の「ハルダンゲルヴァイオリン スカラシップ制度」を創設。・2012年：音楽教育を通して心の豊かさを育むことを目的に、「諏訪山音楽学院（現・リオン音楽学院）」を東京・中目黒に開校。日本初の「北欧音楽コース（ハルダンゲルヴァイオリン音楽院）」を併設。・2013年：ノルウェー・ハルダンゲル地方の自然と文化をテーマとした北欧デザインジュエリーブランド「Lilla Rio（リラリオ）」を立ち上げ、国内外で販売。・2020年〜：ノルウェー文化・教育・社会福祉を紹介するYouTubeチャンネル「山瀬理桜の北欧学」を運営。動画を通して次世代へのノルウェー文化の継承と、日本社会への応用を発信中。
