On the 26th of November representatives of Cognite visited us at the Norwegian Embassy to officially mark the establishment of their office in Marunouchi and their Japanese entity Cognite K.K..

Cognite is a company partly owned by the Norwegian Aker group, and was established in Oslo in 2016 by Dr. John Markus Lervik to assist companies with making sense of big data, enabling the full-scale digital transformation of heavy-asset industries.

The opening event was divided into two sections, with a press conference in the morning and a customer seminar in the afternoon. The afternoon seminar was initiated by Cognite K.K.’s Japan President Mr. Tokusue,, who delivered their welcoming speech. At the seminar, Cognite co-founders Dr. John Markus Lervik, CEO, and Sindre Hammerlund, Engineer, presented Cognite’s product portfolio, including the company’s key software package, Cognite Data Fusion (CDF). The session also included a customer testimonial presented by their partner, Yokogawa Electric Corporation.

The Norwegian Ambassador to Japan, Ms. Inga M. W. Nyhamar, offered the following words of greeting for Cognite:
“Japan plays an important role in the global economy, and the work of digitalizing large Japanese companies is important not only for the Japanese economy, but also for the rest of the world. Cognite has a great opportunity to contribute with their know-how, and I wish them the best of luck”.

John Markus Lervik, CEO of Cognite, made the following remarks::
“Japan is the third-largest economy and has one of the most advanced manufacturing industries globally. With Japan’s culture for innovation and pioneering adoption of new technologies, Cognite is determined to become the industrial software partner of choice for the region’s industrial companies”.

Said to be the fastest-growing technology company in Scandinavia these days, Cognite has already opened up new offices in Austin and Houston earlier this year, and is now officially up-and-running in Japan. We at NCCJ congratulate Cognite with the successful opening, and look forward to see them contribute to the further digitalization of Japanese companies.
