[Event Report] Norwegian Coldwater Prawn Party

The evening of June 19th saw the return of the Norwegian Coldwater Prawn Party. For the first time since 2022 we welcomed our guests to the pool and garden area of the Norwegian Embassy in Tokyo. A full house of 88 participants gathered, including old and new members of the Norwegian-Japanese community, NCCJ members and their guests.

We were blessed with a warm and clear evening; perfect for enjoying this classic Norwegian summer meal.

Participants enjoyed Norwegian coldwater prawns in the typical Norwegian style; on top of bread with mayonnaise and lemon. Coldwater prawns grow slowly in Arctic waters which give them a firm texture and deep flavour. The highlight of the drinks selection was the Bivrost Midsumarblot Aquavit, a smooth and dill-flavoured summer aquavit that paired perfectly with the prawns.

Thank you to the Norwegian Embassy for their support in bringing back this Norwegian-Japanese tradition, to all participants, to Coldwater Prawns of Norway for supplying the prawns and to Aurora Spirit Distilleries and Kings Barrel for supplying the aquavit.

We look forward to repeating the success again in 2027. For anyone unable to wait that long, or simply eager to sample more of the best seafood in the world, the Norwegian Seafood Dinner on November 12th will feature a wide selection of Norwegian seafood;.
