Maritime Industry Roundtable
On October 27 maritime industry and government representatives came together for a roundtable seminar in Aurora Hall at the Norwegian Embassy in Tokyo.
Norwegian Ambassador Kristin Iglum welcomed the participants before Director General Ottar Ostnes of the Norwegian Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Fisheries held the opening remarks. Perspectives were also provided by Iwaki Kohei of the Japanese Maritime Bureau and Nils Haktor Bua of the Norwegian Maritime Authority.
11 NCCJ member companies were among the contributors at the roundtable session and each company shared their opportunities and challenges in Japan and gave their recommendations to the Japanese and Norwegian governments.
The roundtable was organized in connection with the visit to Japan by representatives from the Norwegian Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Fisheries for their bilateral consultations with the Maritime Bureau of Japans Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) on cooperation in the field of environmentally friendly maritime technology and industry.
The seminar was followed by a reception at the Ambassadors residence.
Thank you to all NCCJ companies who gave their perspectives during this seminar and to the Norwegian Embassy for offering them the platform to do so.
