[Event report] Norway101- Cultural Awareness Workshop (日本語訳あり) 2025

The Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (NCCJ) successfully hosted the “Norway 101 – Cultural Awareness Workshop” on 27 November 2025 at Aurora Hall, Norwegian Embassy, aimed at deepening understanding of Norwegian society, values, and business culture for professionals working with Norway.

The event opened with greetings from Snorre Larsen, NCCJ General Manager, and Chairman Jostein Rørtveit, followed by participant introductions and sharing of personal connections to Norway.

Dr. David Andrew Quist, Chief Explorer of Norwegian Mycelium AS (NoMy), led the first presentation. Having spent most of his career in Norway, he shared insights from a Norwegian perspective on working with Japanese colleagues, highlighting differences in communication, decision-making, and workplace practices. The session included an engaging Q&A.

The second presentation, by Yuki Ikeda from INPEX, offered the reverse perspective: a Japanese professional’s experience working with Norwegian teams. She emphasized how Japanese cultural norms interact with Norwegian work styles, leadership expectations, and communication habits, sparking an interactive discussion.

Ueno-san from NCCJ provided insights on communication and collaboration between Norway and Japan, followed by an open discussion where participants shared experiences and explored solutions together.

The workshop concluded with a Norway-themed quiz and a networking session, allowing attendees and speakers to exchange ideas and build connections.

This year’s Norway 101 successfully provided participants with practical insights into Norwegian culture and business, supporting more effective communication and collaboration. NCCJ thanks all speakers and attendees for their active participation.

在日ノルウェー商工会議所(NCCJ)は、2025年11月27日、ノルウェー大使館オーロラホールにて「Norway 101 – 文化理解ワークショップ2025」を開催し、ノルウェー社会の価値観やビジネス文化への理解を深める場を提供いたしました。

イベントは、NCCJゼネラルマネージャーのスノーレ・ラーセンと会長のヨステイン・ロールトヴェイトによる開会挨拶で幕を開け、参加者同士で自己紹介やノルウェーとの関わりを共有しました。

最初のプレゼンテーションは、Norwegian Mycelium AS(NoMy)のチーフエクスプローラー、デビッド・アンドリュー・クイスト博士が担当。ノルウェーでキャリアを重ねてきた経験をもとに、日本人同僚との働き方の違い、意思決定やコミュニケーションの特徴など、ノルウェー視点での文化理解を紹介しました。活発な質疑応答も行われました。

続いて、INPEXの池田祐紀氏が、日本人としてノルウェーチームと働いた経験を共有。日本の文化規範がノルウェーの働き方、リーダーシップ、コミュニケーション習慣にどのように影響するかを具体例とともに解説し、参加者との双方向の議論が展開されました。

NCCJの上野氏は、文化的理解を日常業務に活かす方法について解説。その後のディスカッションセッションでは、参加者同士が経験を共有し、実務上の解決策を探りました。

最後にノルウェーに関するクイズを実施し、軽食を交えたネットワーキングセッションで参加者とスピーカーが意見交換を行い、交流を深めました。

今年の「Norway 101」は、ノルウェー文化やビジネスに関する実践的な理解を参加者に提供し、より効果的なコミュニケーションと協働を促進するイベントとなりました。スピーカーならびに参加者の皆様に心より感謝申し上げます。
