【Event Report】Cultural Awareness Workshop – Equinor & NCCJ

First Cultural Awareness Workshop Delivered to Equinor New Energy Branch Japan by the NCCJ

On June 19., the NCCJ represented by General Manager Simen Aasen, together with Andreas Nesheim, an intern from the Norwegian School of Economics and working 5 weeks at Laerdal Medical this spring through the NHH–NCCJ internship program, delivered a seminar on Norwegian culture, society and business culture for the employees at NCCJ’s member company Equinor New Energy Branch BV Japan.

6 employees took part in the 2-hour workshop which ended in a Kahoot-quiz with Norwegian prizes. Topics such as Norwegian history, economy, social structures, meeting and business etiquette were covered. Many interesting discussions arose throughout the workshop and the participants shared many useful experiences from working for a Norwegian company.

Karsten Stoltenberg, Country Director for Equinor New Energy Japan, had this to say about the workshop:

«Equinor’s newly established team in Tokyo, all non—Norwegians, interacts daily with colleagues in Norway. The ‘Norwegian culture seminar’, which was well prepared and executed by NCCJ, illustrated well the differences but also similarities in values, ways of thinking and business protocols in Norway and Japan. I am convinced that the seminar was a good investment and will contribute to an even better and smoother communication and collaboration between my team and our colleagues in Norway.»

The NCCJ welcomes all members working for and with Norwegian companies to get in touch to inquire to receive the same workshop. The workshop is intended for both new and seasoned employees looking to learn more about Norway and its culture to gain a competitive edge.
