AGM 2022: Live from the Norwegian Embassy in Tokyo

On Thursday, February 3. the NCCJ held its Annual General meeting. From Aurora Hall at the Norwegian embassy in Tokyo, Chairperson Svend Haakon Kristensen and General Manager Simen Aasen presented the Chamber’s activities from the year passed, the focus areas for 2022, and the new additions to the board of directors. H. E. Ambassador Inga M. W. Nyhamar was present at the meeting to give a greeting to all the NCCJ members that joined online. Ambassador Nyhamar thanked the Norway-Japan business community for their hard work during the challenging times, emphasizing seeing opportunities in times of difficulty and how collaboration between the embassy and the business community is as important as ever.

Activity Report and Plans for 2022

After a financial report with green numbers and an activity report of 2021 which saw the completion of many focus areas presented at the last AGM, vaccination offering at TKP for NCCJ members, the B2C project “IHUGA” which 11 members participated in in 2021, and a new weekly newsletter, many new and reoccurring initiatives the Chamber has in store for 2022 were presented. As main focus areas, in addition to continuing ongoing initiatives such as the cultural awareness training “Norway 101”, the recurring monthly benkyokai “Tie-in, Tie-Off” – which started in 2020 and will be held bi-monthly and at corporate member offices in 2022 – the arrival of the Norwegian tall ship “Statsraad Lehmkuhl” in Yokohama, September 2022, increase in communications in Japanese to members and information to be sent to all members on all NCCJ services and offerings, was presented.

New Additions to the Boards

The voting participants unanimously welcomed Mr. Shinya Kaneko (Scandinavian Airlines System) and Mr. Joachim Nielsen (Proximar) to the Board of Directors.

The NCCJ would also like to thank Mr. Leif Nilsson (Scandinavian Airlines System) and Mr. Stein Saugnes (Individual Member) for their contribution to the Board of Directors, and Mr. Mats Steinnes (Wallenius Wilhelmsen) for his contribution to the Board of Trustees.
