【Event Report】Workshop: Innovating for Sustainable Cities in Japan – Entrepreneurship and Technology

Hybrid Event in Aurora Hall for Nordic Edge Expo

On Thursday September 24., the first physical event, this time in a hybrid format as a contribution to Nordic Edge Expo 2020, was held in Aurora Hall at the Norwegian Embassy in Tokyo,. The hybrid event was hosted by the Norwegian Embassy in Tokyo, Innovation Norway, the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

The 1,5 hour session was moderated by ambassador Inga Nyhamar who gave an introduction together with Per Arve Frøyen of Innovation Norway Japan, with presenters Mr. Einar Holthe (Natural State and Fuglen) and Ms. Naoko Ogawa (Japan Business Federation). Commentators present was Niklas Karvonen (Nordic Innovation House) and Svend Haakon Kristensen (Laerdal Medical and NCCJ).

The participants reflected upon the economic, technological and social development in Japan through digital transformation and the realisation of “Society 5.0”. The Nordic Edge initiative, with its focus on smart cities, is a natural link with Japan’s Society 5.0 initiative. The participants explored the possibilities, challenges and prerequisites that lies within the realisation of the goals needed to be accomplished on the road to achieve sustainable cities in Japan – in light of the SDGs and the role of Norwegian solutions and technology.

The NCCJ is looking forward to offering more physical and hybrid events in the future in line with the current guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
