Executive Director of the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (NCCJ)
Our current Executive Director will start a new job early next year and we are looking for her replacement.
As an Executive Director, you will be the general manager and official representative of our Chamber. You will lead a small team and be responsible for the overall management of the chamber activities.
Our Executive Director experiences much freedom and has a great opportunity to influence his or her own working situation. You will communicate closely with the board of directors and have opportunities to influence the focus and direction of the chamber. You will also act as a bridge between the Norwegian business community and the Norwegian Embassy, and cooperate closely with the rest of Team Norway (MFA, Innovation Norway, Norwegian Seafood Council, Visit Norway) on a daily basis, to enhance the activities in the Norwegian community as a whole.

The position is Tokyo-based and you will report to the President of the Chamber firstly and to Board of Directors.
Leading a small team of one to two persons, daily management of the NCCJ
Member recruitment and retention.
Plan and conduct events and member activities in close co-operation with the Board of Directors. Arrange meetings, such as Board meetings, General Assemblies and similar when needed
Regular communication with members and partners. via newsletters, webpage, social media (Facebook) and direct contact.
Be responsible for the NCCJ financials including reporting and budgeting.

The role offers freedom and flexibility to control your working hours. However, from time to time, work during evenings is required.

First-hand knowledge about Norway and Norwegian business is a plus; however, a candidate with strong interest and ability to learn is equally welcome.
Fluency in Norwegian and business level in English is a must. Japanese is a plus.
A confirmed visa status to work in Japan.
The position is currently not a full-time position but about 100 hours every month. The role may be combined with other work or engagements. We may also consider increasing the scope of the position if the right candidate. Compensation will be decided based on experience.
